What can I expect at my first session? At your initial assessment I will look at how you are moving, your strength, fitness levels, posture, coordination and sensation. I will also look at how you manage everyday functions such as walking, getting in and out of bed, and how you manage climbing the stairs. I will discuss with you what your expectations are of Physiotherapy, and what your goals might be. We can then discuss a rehabilitation programme that is tailored to your needs.
-
How long will each session last?Your initial assessment will usually last between 60 and 75 minute to allow for a thorough assessment of your needs. Treatment sessions following this can be discussed but will usually last 45 minutes.
-
How many treatment sessions will I need? The frequency and duration of treatment sessions will be determined during your initial assessment and will depend on the cause and severity of your mobility problems. A few sessions may be enough or longer term therapy may be needed to achieve your goals. However, if you are only able to manage one session of private treatment then I will ensure, that following your initial appointment, that you have a clear idea of what ideally is needed and what you can do to help yourself.
-
How much will my treatment cost?Your initial assessment will last up to 75 minutes and cost £90. Any follow up sessions will be charged at £60 per 45 minutes. Charges for anything additional will be discussed with you at the time, e.g. the writing of reports/referrals, liaising with other health professionals.
-
How far will you travel?I am based in Lindfield and will travel up to approximately 5 miles without additional charges. Longer journeys may incur an additional charge but please contact us to discuss this further.
-
Can I come to you?Experience has shown that providing treatment in your own home, or place of residence, is much more effective than you having to attend a clinic. Observation of the specific functional challenges of your own home environment enables me to establish the most appropriate rehabilitation programme to achieve your goals. It also makes things easier for you, and removes the difficulties that fatigue can present when travelling.
-
What conditions do you treat?I work with anyone over the age of 18 who has an injury to their brain or spinal cord, or who has a disease that affects the nervous system. This can include Stroke, Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Spinal Cord Injury, Head Injury, Functional Neurological Disorder, Guillain Barre Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and any other Neurological disorder. I also work with people over the age of 60 who have reduced mobility, balance, strength and function. I also have experience in PD Warrior Exercise, group exercise classes, hydrotherapy, clinical pilates, and Orthopaedic rehabilitation.
-
What age range do you cover?I can work with young adults and adults of all ages, but generally not children as they require more specialist intervention.
-
What should I wear for my Physiotherapy session?Ideally you should wear something loose and comfortable that is easy to move in.
-
What are your Covid 19 safety measures?Your safety is of paramount importance to me. I ensure I take twice weekly lateral flow tests to minimise the risk to you as much as possible. When seeing you in your home, I will always ensure my hands are sanitised and that I wear gloves for any hands on treatment. I will also be wearing a surgical face mask for the duration of the session. It is your choice whether you choose to wear a face mask as well.
